What does a baby need most? Mothers know the answer. The first years of life are the foundation of every child's development. This project aims to provide monthly financial support to low-income mothers with children between 0 and 3 years old, so they can cover essential needs such as food, diapers, hygiene, clothing, or whatever their children truly require. This support is unconditional because we trust that mothers know how to care for their children best.
In Colombia, many mothers living in vulnerable conditions lack the minimum resources needed to ensure their children's well-being. The 0-3 year stage is the most critical for physical, emotional, and cognitive development, but it is often marked by a lack of proper nutrition, hygiene, and early stimulation. Additionally, these mothers face high levels of stress due to the absence of economic and emotional support.
This project will provide monthly financial assistance to 10 vulnerable mothers in Medellin and Andes, Antioquia, initially for six months. The money can only be used to meet the child's needs, but without any imposed conditions. We believe in each mother's autonomy and her ability to make the right decisions for her child's well-being.
This is just the first step... if we're able to support 10 mothers for six months, transforming the lives of 10 children during their most crucial developmental stage, then we'll get to increase the numer of mothers and children. This investment can help prevent malnutrition, promote holistic development, and reduce inequality from early childhood. Empowering mothers also contributes to safer, more stable, and loving homes and stronger communities.
