We’re thrilled to share the latest progress from our work in Karachi with our partners at IHRI.
Our third group of Community Health Workers (CHWs) has now completed training — 15 CHWs and 3 Level 2 therapists in total. These newly skilled workers are already helping children with disabilities and their families access better support in their communities. The training also marked an important step for IHRI therapists working towards becoming certified Level 2 trainers, enabling them to train future CHWs as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
Meanwhile, we’re preparing for our next Appropriate Paper-based Technology (APT) training in Karachi this November. A preliminary training was held at our partner organisation, ACELP, in September, to familiarise the trainees with the basics of APT production (have a look at the photos to see what they made).
Thanks to the dedication of our UK experts, Catherine Barton and Deborah May, 25 participants from three partner organisations will take part in this 10-day, hands-on course in November. The skills they gain will help local teams create low-cost, sustainable and practical aids to improve children’s daily lives.
We’re deeply grateful to everyone who makes this work possible — your support continues to help communities build lasting change.
