Dear GEC Friends and Supporters,
We were excited to kick off 2026 with our first Changemaker Program of the year, bringing together students and alumni for a meaningful day of inspiration and future-focused reflection. On January 3rd, the Ghana Educational Collaborative hosted a powerful session designed to help students begin the year with clarity, confidence, and purpose—made possible through your continued support.
The program featured a motivational talk by Nana Aboagye, a dynamic professional whose educational and career journey resonated deeply with our students. Born in Washington, D.C., Nana completed his secondary education in Ghana before earning a Bachelor’s degree from Emory University and an MBA from the Wharton School. Today, he works in corporate strategy, driving business growth and innovation.
Nana shared openly about the challenges he has faced and emphasized the role education played in shaping his leadership, resilience, and career path. He encouraged students to adopt a growth mindset, view obstacles as opportunities, and invest in meaningful relationships that can support them along the way. Students left inspired, many reflecting on how his story helped them rethink their own challenges and aspirations.
Following the talk, Amma Boakye-Danquah, a member of the Matie Masie board, led an engaging vision-boarding session. Through guided reflection and creative expression, students clarified their academic, personal, and career goals and created vision boards they will carry with them throughout the year as reminders of what they are working toward.
This Changemaker session set a strong tone for the months ahead—sparking motivation, focus, and renewed determination among our students. Thank you for making experiences like this possible and for continuing to invest in the growth of Ghana’s next generation of leaders.
With gratitude,
The GEC Team
