The last Quarter for 2017

Dear Supporters,

The last quarter for the year 2017 started with the month of October, this was the second month of our last academic term of the year. In this year, we had only 19 candidates who sat for their last examination of their primary school. They all started and finished at pleasing environment. Their results are already out and the performance was really good. Three quarters of them performed above average and hopefully the whole lot shall be joining secondary schools in the start of the new year.

We are very happy and proud of our institution as we have now moved a great step forward since our pioneers have finished their secondary school level this year. This is the elder group that finished here in the year 2013. We too hope that a good number will qualify once the results are out and join their universities of choice. Four of them made it through easier as they had sponsorship by one of our former volunteers with GVI Mombasa, Madam Michele.

The children displayed a positive improvement and performance in both their class work and attendance at school. This has been possibly mainly because of the presence of the feeding program which keeps majority of the kids in school as well as giving them a regular school attendance. We therefore appreciate the support towards the children and the school.

At the beginning of October, we embarked on refurbishing the three of our tuk tuks. This was fully sponsored by one of our former GVI-Mombasa volunteers. Immediately after the body work we headed for the annual police inspection, which we passed and the project was completed.

After closing the school and candidates had finished their final examinations, we had a picnic for the out going students. It was really entertaining with the kids together for the last time as primary school learners. We had fun with different kinds of games; football, basketball, volleyball and swimmin. At the end of it all, a very delicious meal, all courtesy of our Aussie friend, Madam Dianne, who is also a former GVI volunteer with us.

We are still pursuing ways which can lead us to our own independent plot of land where the school can stand on and we look forward to a new year with many new possibilties.
