Why we have a feeding program at Nyota

By Kate Robey | Head of Operations

Thank you!
Thank you!

Dear Supporter,

Here at Nyota we have a feeding programme that is so important in the lives of so many children.

It is hard to describe the impact of the feeding programme on the students of Nyota, as it is just so vast. The students in Nyota come from backgrounds where the meals they receive in school could be the only ones that they receive that day. As you can imagine, trying to pay attention in a classroom for 8 hours, while hunger pains are ravaging your stomach is not exactly conducive to learning.

The feeding programme provides students with a filling and nutritious breakfast and lunch every school day, even during the holidays. This means that the students are not only benefitting from the nutrients they are receiving, but attention spans and concentration levels are also greatly improved.

This has a positive effect on classroom performance and exam results. There has been a marked improvement in marks since the feeding programme was established in June 2010. There has also been an increase in students’ attendance levels, with every student staying in school until the end of the school day.

The feeding programme is so important to the students of Nyota Ing’arayo, and thanks to your donations, it remains a valuable aspect of school life for these students.

Thank you for your ongoing support of this project.

With Gratitude,

GVI Charitable Trust
