A successful 3 months for Kenya!
Dear Supporters,
In the beginning of July we started Quarter three for the year 2017. The season began with great news where we got supplies of sports equipment from one of our GVI ex-volunteers. The school is now well equipped with these items and the kids can now take their sports sessions and break times with ease.
We are happy to pass it across that in August, we were able to purchase:
- New chairs for 80 kids in kindergartens one, two and three.
- We repaired the toilet doors for the pupils.
- The floor for classes one, two, three and six.
- The metallic walls for classes one, two, three and five.
- The door frames for classes five and six.
- The reading room roofing to prevent it from leaking.
In the same month of August, we received text books, exercise books and other stationery from another GVI ex-volunteer with our school. This means that, the kids are now well covered and can stay in school with more comfort.
September, which is an early part of our term three of 2017, started with our move to take care of the plight of one of our class seven girls. We were able to secure her a place of accommodation as she continue with her studies. We managed to get her to Canaan Orphanage and School center where she is more happier and can keep studying.
Right now, the biggest project we are working on is for the school to have its own plot of land, a place where we can have an independent school which meets the basic standards of the education policies. It is an expensive undertaking for us, but we believe we can reach this goal.
All in all it has been a success in the whole project and all the undertakings, however, we had to halt for a while to pave way for the general elections which were peacefully held and accompanied by the August holidays which started on The 1st of August and ended on 28th of August.
Thank you for making this happen!
With Gratitude,
Nyota Ing'arayo School
