HOPE enriches the lives of individuals with disabilities in China through equine-assisted services. Children and adults with special needs, who typically have very limited access to therapeutic-type activities, connect with specially-trained horses, staff, and volunteers at HOPE to promote physical, cognitive, and social growth.
China has many citizens who are disabled but do not have access to specialized services. Our goal is to provide affordable equine-assisted activities to improve the quality of life of our participants. Many families struggle financially to support themselves while also providing services for their child to help them develop physically, cognitively, socially and emotionally. We want to minimize the financial burden by subsidizing a significant portion of adaptive horsemanship sessions .
The activities and therapies at HOPE give our participants an undeniable source of enrichment as they experience the healing powers of the horse. Equine-Assisted Services (EAS) may help children reach major development goals from sitting and walking, to listening and communicating with others. We aid individuals with special needs through EAS sessions. We also educate the public (through classes and presentations) to raise awareness of, and consideration for, those we serve.
HOPE strives to be an exemplary service provider, educator, and leader in EAS while encouraging local and regional citizens to serve individuals with disabilities. We offer safe, effective, affordable activities and therapy to our participants to foster growth and independence. We promote understanding and compassion for individuals who are differently-abled and provide learning opportunities for others in China to experience best-practices in therapeutic horsemanship.
