In this first project report, we want to take a few minutes to provide additional details about the Street School Business training program which will provide the core learning components to this project.
Our local non-profit partner, Activate Action, we introduced in the GlobalGiving project page and we're very fortunate that two members of their extended team are trained in the Street Business School model and are certified to deliver the program.
As the Street Business School (SBS) program is an important part of our overall project, we want to first share their mission which is "to end extreme poverty by empowering women as entrepreneurs.” The SBS training program is built on years of delivery globally to this demographic of women and helps the participants build confidence as well as their practical business skills through a range of learning modules. The Activate Action trainers will deliver the SBS learning modules that address microbusiness concepts such as:
1. Market Research
2. Business Planning
3. Bookkeeping
4. Money Management
5. Business Identification
6. Confidence Building
7. Growing Your Customer Base
8. Finding Capital
The participants for the first program in-take have been identified and we’re working to compile brief profiles which we plan to share so that you can start to put names and faces to the women you are supporting.
We’re also very excited to announce the evolution in this project to a business start-up incubator. Activate Action and BBS believe that this transformation will allow us to support longer each cohort, create a network of alumni to help each other, provide a greater number of women the opportunity to own microbusinesses as well as other benefits.
We want to thank you again for donating to this project. Your generous support will directly go towards participant costs such as the workhop materials plus the microgrants.
We're committed to supporting this demographic of women that are on the lowest rung of the economic ladder and improving not only their lives but that of their family and community. We hope you enjoy being part of their entrepreneurial journey!
