Dear Kind Donors and Supporters,
Warmest greetings from the team at MHO.
We are honored to share with you this progress report under the project Supporting Malaria Emergency Response in Ethiopia. While this reporting period has been especially challenging, we remain deeply committed to our mission—and it is your enduring kindness, trust, and compassion that gives us strength during these difficult times.
Though no donations were secured for this project during the current reporting cycle—largely due to the campaign being newly posted and not yet widely promoted within the GlobalGiving platform—your previous generosity and support across our work have continued to fuel hope and action on the ground.
Despite the lack of new funding for this specific initiative, MHO has leveraged existing capacity and partnerships to continue delivering impactful services in some of Ethiopia’s most vulnerable communities. With the foundational support we've received from donors like you, we have managed to sustain and refine malaria prevention and emergency response strategies—particularly among women and children in high-risk zones.
In Central and South Gondar, where the devastation of drought collides with the burden of preventable disease, our team has remained on the ground, providing health awareness, community mobilization, and limited emergency support—filling critical gaps where we can.
Challenges and the Road Ahead
The harsh drought in our intervention areas—especially Central and South Gondar—has pushed families to the brink. The funding gap is not just a logistical issue; it is a matter of survival. Our teams report a worrying surge in need, yet our ability to scale interventions is hindered by limited resources.
Currently, MHO continues to implement a broad range of health and humanitarian programs, but malaria remains a top concern. Without additional support, our ability to distribute mosquito nets, provide rapid diagnostic testing, and deliver life-saving treatment is severely constrained.
A Call to Renewed Solidarity
We understand that global crises are many—and donor fatigue is real. But in these quiet corners of Ethiopia, your support is more than just a gift. It is life-saving. We humbly ask for your continued help in amplifying this campaign, sharing it with your networks, and encouraging others to join our journey.
We are committed to transparency, impact, and delivering hope to those who need it most. Every action you take—every dollar, every share—brings us closer to ending needless suffering from a preventable disease.
Thank you, once again, for standing with us. Together, we can turn this tide.
With heartfelt gratitude,
