More than two billion people around the world lack access to safe water. In communities already threatened by displacement, war, and climate crisis, the right to water is key to survival.
IsraAID’s water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) experts are working to put water in the hands of vulnerable communities across the globe. Our teams currently implement water access programs in 8 countries, ensuring thousands of people gain access to water every year. Alongside our trusted local partners, we are committed to having a sustainable impact on those we serve, building stronger, more resilient communities.
In Ukraine, our WASH team has installed 15 water treatment stations, combatting the lack of safe drinking water as a result of Russia’s full-scale invasion. These stations allow vulnerable community members to access safe water from previously highly contaminated sources.
“I used to travel far to get water. But I am old. There is no one to help me carry the heavy bottle. But now, with this station, it is much easier for me to get water.” - C, Mykolaiv.
IsraAID’s water filtration systems are now producing over 1 million liters of safe water per month and have provided over 10 million liters of safe drinking water for communities cut off from infrastructure in Southern Ukraine. IsraAID has trained local authorities and operators to maintain these systems, promoting continued sustainability and a more resilient future for affected communities.
Together with the Mykolaiv City Council, we also developed an interactive digital map providing vital, real-time information on all free purified water distribution points across the city of Mykolaiv. With a total of 250 distribution points mapped, accessing clean water has never been easier for residents. Now under the direct management of Mykolaiv City Council, our team continues to support the city in maintaining and improving the map's operations.
