Thanks to donations to this project and money raised through the inaugural Phoenix Nicaragua Volcano challenge held in May 2011 We have recently implemented an addition to our daily food schemes in La Thompson and Chiriza, Nicaragua. Each Friday the children are now receiving chicken as a supplement to the fruit, rice and beans they normally receive each day.
This translates to much needed protein leading into the weekend when school is not in session and the kids may not eat. To say the children look forward to Friday Art day to include a meal with chicken would be an understatement. Nicaragua's second volcano challenge of the year will be in November, so we can sustain these important programs for the children in our schools and add new ones!
