As we head into the final third of the year it is worth taking a quick recap on the sustainable plans we have been putting into place this year and where we plan to add more in the future. These plans not only provide sustainable income and employment for local families though also provide funds to help cover our local teachers' salaries, materials and daily food and fruit. It is hoped in the next few years these sustainable plans will help make the projects completely self-sustainable.
In Guatemala Plan Corte (weaving) provides employment for five women and we plan to add another loom as the business grows. Plan Pollo (chickens) is being rolled out to local families with the aim that over 100 will benefit from this by the end of the year. Plan Moo (cows) is growing all the time, with many of our cows now having calves and these calves been handed on to new families. We aim to purchase a further 40 cows (at $1000 each) between now and the end of 2016.
We have started Plan Pollo in Honduras aiming to benefit 50 families between now and mid-2016. Plan Tilapia (fish) has been expanded to two pools and we aim to add a further 4 pools in the next few months. Plan Café is ripening well, with the first harvest due in the next couple of months.
Plan Pollo and Plan Moo continue to grow in Ecuador, with Plan Moo and Plan Cuy (guinea pigs) now covering all further education costs in one village. Plan Ciber (internet) in Nicaragua is covering a teacher salary and fruit whiclst providing employment for two people. We plan to open a dry fruit plan in Perú with investigations still ongoing.
Over the next few months we intend to invest around $100,000 in our plans, and this is all thanks to generous donations from yourselves and others - thanks so much for your support!
cheers
