New Tools, New Project, New Futures in Senegal

Dear friend,

Exciting progress is already happening this year in Saint-Louis.

Several young electricians we supported have now received their first professional toolkits, allowing them to start taking on work independently. These kits were awarded in recognition of their dedication and discipline during training and internships.

As one Koranic teacher shared:

“Many organizations help once and move on, but Aspyre Africa keeps returning to support these young people. That shows real care. For this, I am sincerely thankful.”

For these young men, owning their own tools is a major step toward stable work and independence.

At the same time, just outside Saint-Louis, Mbodji — a former talibé — has launched his own horticulture project. With guidance from agricultural expert Mr. Demba Diop and support from our team, he has already prepared the land and started nurseries for tomatoes and onions, alongside peanuts and okra.

Thanks to access to land and water through a local partnership, this initiative could become a model for helping more young people build livelihoods through agriculture.

I have just arrived in Senegal for a monitoring visit and will soon share a fuller update from the field. But I wanted to first thank you — because these milestones are happening thanks to your support.

Looking ahead, in 2026 we aim to support at least 120 additional vulnerable young people with vocational training, internships, and pathways to employment or entrepreneurship — with at least half being girls. At the same time, 138 young people already in the programme will continue receiving mentorship as they strengthen their livelihoods.

We will also expand our work to Rufisque, while new training units in horticulture and plumbing will be created through our partnership with the Safeguarding Centre in Pikine–Guédiawaye.

March 17–20: GlobalGiving’s Little by Little campaign
During this campaign, donations up to $50 per donor will be matched by 50% while matching funds last.

Everything you’ve just read — from electricians receiving tools to Mbodji’s horticulture project — is possible because you chose to support these young people.

Thank you for helping turn training into real opportunities.

With gratitude,

The Aspyre Africa Team
