To mark Menstrual Hygiene Month 2025, Msichana Imara Foundation hosted a series of unique and impactful event at Arusha Day Secondary School under the theme of student leadership and open dialogue.
Instead of traditional lectures, we flipped the script allowing students to take charge of the conversation through a Q&A session. This approach gave girls the space to freely express their concerns, share experiences, and ask deeply personal and often overlooked questions about menstruation.
A professional nurse was present to respond to the students’ questions with accurate information, empathy, and encouragement. This interactive format not only helped break menstrual taboos but also built trust, confidence, and a sense of ownership among the students.
The celebration reminded us that when girls are empowered with knowledge and voice, they become powerful advocates for change. As we continue building a #PeriodFriendlyWorld, we are proud to center the voices of those most affected the girls themselves.
