Typhoon Danas, the strongest to hit Taiwan's central region in 39 years, left homes roofless, fields flooded, and families without power, water, or income. The Mustard Seed Mission (MSM) is providing emergency aid, repairing houses, replacing essentials, supporting children's schooling, and teaching disaster safety. Help us restore hope and rebuild lives, ensuring families emerge stronger and safer for the future.
Typhoon Danas, Taiwan's first moderate typhoon to hit the central region in 39 years, brought over 48 hours of heavy rain and Force 13 winds, causing prolonged floods. Over 490,000 lost power, 68,000 lost water, and agricultural losses topped NT$2.56 billion. Many in Tainan, Chiayi, Yunlin, Changhua, and Nantou were left in unsafe homes without essentials, facing stress and uncertainty as aid struggled to reach them.
MSM is scaling up relief after Typhoon Danas: (1) Assessing needs, visiting homes, and providing food, water, essentials, cash aid, and rental help. (2) Repair teams will restore roofs and walls, with appliances and school supplies given to help families regain dignity. (3) Long-term, MSM will run disaster safety and resilience training to better prepare vulnerable communities.
This project will initially assist over 100 families. By restoring homes, replacing essential household goods, supporting children's education, and promoting disaster preparedness, we aim to ensure these communities emerge stronger and more resilient. MSM's close collaboration with local governments and community networks to build sustainable safety nets, reducing future vulnerabilities and fostering hope for the future.
