INDIGENOUS CHILDREN AS PEACE EDUCATORS
Zenu indigenous children from communities in San Andrés de Sotavento, with the help of teachers and facilitators from CEPALC, are being educated not only in their rights but also in the social responsibilities they have as inhabitants of the planet, of our common home. Little by little, they have become aware of the need to protect water, forests, fauna, and flora; and in proper waste management, including recycling processes and maximizing waste utilization.
Likewise, children are being educated in gender equity; in respect for the rights of women and girls, they are strengthening their self-esteem and dignity in the face of a traditional culture that has formed them in submission and self-contempt.
All this educational work is carried out with the creative use of media such as radio, theater, and music.
