Dedicated Volunteers (Q3 2025)

By Stuart Patience | Board Member

Dear Supporters,
We’re happy to share another update on our work focusing on Jakarta’s urban poor!

Dedicated Volunteers
At a local community center, one of our passionate volunteers teaches small reading classes every weekday. Some of the children join to prepare for school, while others need extra help to catch up. These sessions are more than just reading practice, they are the first steps in building a strong foundation for lifelong learning. And it’s inspiring to see volunteers who truly care about these children’s futures. Step by step, they are helping kids gain the confidence and skills they need. And thanks to your support, you are part of this impact!

Train Tracks
In our last update, we shared about volunteers working in a community near the train tracks. These community members are looking forward to be trained and use our reading materials to teach local children. They are already taking small steps, and their passion is clear. But to move forward, we still need funding. With your help, we can train these volunteers and give them the resources they need: levelled reading books and the SSM curriculum.

Can you help?

Do you know someone who might want to support this initiative? Or would you consider making a donation yourself?

When we train and equip volunteers in urban poor areas, we are not only helping children today, we are investing in long-term change for families and communities. As always, thank you for being part of this journey!
