Arabella, Naomi, and Rita are interning with Leadership Initiatives to bring Good Governance and Transparency workshops to the Bayara South Community. Working with experts and their Project Coordinator, Auwal, they are helping residents understand the importance of accountability and citizen participation, inspiring a new generation to advocate for fairness, integrity, and stronger community leadership.
In many parts of Northern Nigeria, limited access to civic education and transparency allows corruption and mismanagement to persist. Many citizens are unaware of their rights or how to hold leaders accountable. Arabella, Naomi, and Rita's project addresses this by promoting good governance, empowering communities to demand integrity, and strengthening trust between leaders and citizens.
Through workshops and advocacy campaigns, the team will educate residents on their civic rights, promote transparency, and encourage open dialogue between leaders and citizens. By building awareness and accountability, the project empowers communities to take an active role in ensuring fair, responsible governance.
In the long term, Arabella, Naomi, and Rita's work will create a more informed and engaged Bayara South community. Their advocacy for transparency and accountability will inspire citizens to participate in governance, demand integrity from leaders, and build a culture of trust and responsibility that strengthens local leadership for generations to come.
