MANILA, Philippines - The COVID-19 pandemic has upended the lives of children and their families across the globe. Childhope Philippines Foundation is working to promote facts over fear, bringing reliable guidance to parents, social workers, and educators, and partnering with front-line responders to ensure they have the information and resources they need to keep children healthy and learning.
Childhope Philippines conducted an engaging and informative webinar on "COVID-19 Updates: Aligning our Basic Knowledge on COVID-19" on September 21 via Zoom. Klinikalye Mobile Health Clinic Project Coordinator Dr. Caprio spearheaded the webinar and tackles a conceptual landscape on which attendees construct a valid understanding of COVID-19 and its preventive measures.
The objectives of the webinar were to update the knowledge of its staff, street educators, and social workers on the latest COVID-19 news and resources, as well as tips to protect themselves, families, and their street children clientele from the virus.
Also, Dr. Carpio addressed the role of the vaccine in workplace COVID-19 prevention which helped the attendees to sort through information, fears, and mistrust and use it to build safer environments for workers and street children beneficiaries. More importantly, why the vaccine will not be an immediate answer for preventing exposure to COVID-19 in the workplace and what that means for staying true to the industrial hygiene hierarchy of controls.
On the other hand, Childhope Philippines is one with the nation in advocating for COVID vaccination and actively campaigns for its older beneficiaries to get vaccinated. To help ensure the safety and well-being of street children and their families in the Philippines, Childhope Philippines street educators, social workers, and office-based staff get their Covid19 vaccines not only to protect themselves but also their families and the children they serve.
“We must do everything we can to safeguard the future of the next generation, which starts with safeguarding those responsible for their development and wellbeing.” Dr. Carpio, Executive Director of Childhope Philippines.
