Our Adopt a Cot project has been the best-supported of all our GlobalGiving campaigns — and every contribution, large or small, has helped us do what matters most: provide high-quality, consistent, loving care for babies and toddlers growing up in vulnerable circumstances.
Each cot in our nursery represents more than a space for a child to rest. It’s a symbol of safety and stability — of a community choosing to stand alongside babies whose beginnings have been marked by loss, poverty, or uncertainty. Because of your support, these cots have not stood empty. They’ve held stories of hope and growth.
What your support has made possible
Your generosity has enabled us to continue offering care that goes beyond basic needs. Our nursery is a gentle, sensory-rich space where babies receive responsive attention from trained caregivers who understand trauma and attachment.
Every day, we see how this early, relational care shapes a child’s development. It’s in the sparkle of a baby’s eyes as she recognises her caregiver’s voice. It’s in the confident way a once-withdrawn toddler begins to explore the room. It’s in the sigh of relief from a mother who can return to work or study, knowing her baby is safe.
Your donations have gone toward formula, fresh food, nappies, medical care, developmental toys, and the salaries of our dedicated staff — women whose hands and hearts do the invisible work of building secure foundations for children’s futures.
A glimpse into our nursery
There are quiet moments in our days that remind us why this project matters so deeply.
One of our little ones, Anele (name changed), arrived at just six months old. She had been severely underweight, with her mother battling postnatal depression and homelessness. With steady care, good nutrition, and time, Anele has transformed. She’s now a curious, chubby toddler who runs to greet her caregiver each morning and sings herself to sleep at nap time.
These are the small miracles your support makes possible. Each baby’s progress tells a story of resilience, relationship, and renewal.
Looking ahead
We are deeply committed to maintaining this standard of care. Your support has reminded us that people do see and value the quiet work of holding babies, feeding them, and giving them the consistent love that rewires early trauma.
As our Adopt a Cot programme grows, we hope to:
Sustain all current cots through regular monthly sponsorships.
Add two more cots in the coming year to meet community demand.
Continue investing in caregiver training and emotional support, because nurturing others starts with being nurtured ourselves.
