At Embrace Village, we have always believed that caring for a baby means caring for a family. The wellbeing of a child is inextricably linked to the wellbeing of their caregivers — and that’s why our *Support a Baby, Build a Family* programme is built on a holistic model of nurture, stability, and healing.
As this year draws to a close, we are encouraged by what we’re seeing: families that are beginning to thrive, caregivers who are growing in confidence, and babies who are meeting their milestones with joy and curiosity.
The change isn’t always dramatic or easy to photograph, but it is deep, steady, and real.
Building families through holistic care
Your support has allowed us to continue walking alongside families who are raising babies in profoundly difficult circumstances — mothers with little or no income, grandparents caring for grandchildren, foster and kinship families, and parents rebuilding their lives after trauma.
Our model goes beyond daycare. Alongside daily childcare, we provide parenting guidance, emotional support, nutrition education, counselling, and access to therapeutic services through our broader Embrace Village network.
This integrated approach helps parents and caregivers develop the confidence and skills they need to nurture their children well. We’ve seen that when a parent or caregiver feels seen, supported, and empowered, their baby’s development flourishes too. The relationship becomes the healing container.
Real impact in real families
One of our young mothers, *Thandi* (name changed), came to us overwhelmed and withdrawn after the birth of her first child. She was living with relatives who struggled to provide for themselves, and her baby was often left in unsafe care. Through our support groups, Thandi found not only reliable childcare, but also a community that encouraged her to see herself as capable and worthy. Today, she has completed a short skills training course, reconnected with her family in a healthier way, and her baby is thriving — smiling, secure, and developing beautifully.
Stories like Thandi’s remind us that our work is not just about early childhood care — it’s about the slow, steady restoration of human dignity.
Why this work matters now
As we prepare for the new school year in January, we’re mindful of how crucial this early intervention is. Without it, many of the families we support would face separation, crisis, or loss of hope. With it, we see a different story unfolding: families becoming stronger, babies growing with consistency, and communities slowly rebuilding trust. To continue this vital work, we urgently need to secure funds for the year ahead.
Each baby and family we support represents a carefully held network of care — caregivers, teachers, therapists, and volunteers all working together to keep one small human being on a path toward wholeness.
Looking forward
Your continued support will help us:
With heartfelt thanks
Thank you for believing in the quiet, transformative power of this work. You have helped us prove that when we support a baby, we don’t just build a family — we strengthen the fabric of a community.
As we head into a new year, we do so with gratitude, humility, and a clear sense of purpose: to keep showing up for families with the same tenderness, courage, and faith that you have shown in us.
With deep appreciation,
Pippa Jarvis
