We hope this gives you a taste of what Bromley Youth Music Trust (BYMT) has achieved over the last year:

11,800 Children and Young People – BYMT works with 11,800 children and young people each year.

221 Teachers in 98 Schools – 221 BYMT music teachers work across 98 Bromley Schools delivering individual music lessons and whole class instrumental/vocal teaching.

7,280 free music lessons – BYMT provides 7,280 FREE music lessons to children in Bromley. 

120 Performers, 3 Productions – 120 BYMT Musical Theatre children and young people performed THREE fully staged Musical Theatre productions to sell-out audiences. 

40 Schools, 1,200 children, 4,000 audience – BYMT brought together 40 schools with 1,200 children for the Bromley Schools’ Prom Concerts.

2,300 performers, 35 events – More than 2,300 children participated in 35 BYMT performances over the last year 

and...not forgetting... 

280 Adults – more than 280 adults come to BYMT each week for ensembles and music lessons. Many of these adults are parents and grandparents of children taking part in BYMT's music services. Thanks to our adult members for their fantastic support - both in volunteering at BYMT events and their generous donations to support our young students. 

And a final number to end with...

£81,900 – the amount BYMT needs each year to support young musicians with free lessons and instrument hire and access to music groups 

Thank you so much to the BYMT Patrons, Alumni and Families who support us. This year alone we have delivered 7,280 free instrumental/vocal lessons and provided free instruments and access to BYMT ensembles via the BYMT Young Musicians’ Bursary Fund, supporting young children whose families are facing financial challenges and cannot pay for music lessons.

Please help BYMT to achive more and continue to offer its music services to ALL young people.

Spring is all about new beginnings. We have a new CEO, Ian Rowe, as well as lots of new young musicians joining Bromley Youth Music Trust (BYMT), who have taken part in a breathtaking range of musical performances since January. At the time of writing, we have 788 young people and 230 adults, regularly taking part in weekly activities with BYMT across 44 ensembles.

At the end of January, BYMT's Musical Theatre performed a 'Cabaret Evening'. An amazing evening - simply put - "WOW". Incredibly high standard of performances and all planned and led by the students themselves. Over £1000 was raised for BYMT. Bravo BYMT Musical Theatre!

The BYMT annual Rotary/Trotman Instrumental & Advanced Singer Finals also took place in January and the winners, Marina & Grace, went on to represent BYMT at the Rotary District and Cluster Finals. Well done to both and wishing 'Good Luck' to Marina who is now going forward to represent BYMT at the Rotary National Finals.

At the beginning of February, BYMT hosted the Bromley Youth Chamber Orchestra (BYCO) Children’s Concert. - a new venture to inspire the next generation of young musicians. The senior students of BYCO performed brilliantly to a packed house of young children & helped them have their first go on string instruments.

The following weekend saw a spectacular day of Jazz workshops & performances at The BYMT Jazz Open Day. Check out the video clip on our official BYMT YouTube channel (click on the link at the end of this report).

Earlier this month, BYMT was once again proud to host the Bromley Horn Day, in association with the British Horn Society, with lead artist Zoë Tweed. BYMT had nearly 50 French Horn players taking part in workshops & performances. The 1812 Overture (abridged) was simply epic!

BYMT's Festival Concerts, showcasing the amazing skills of the members of our Wind Bands, String Orchestras, Rock Bands and Choirs, from beginner to Grade 8, were held over 3 days - six performances with audiences totalling almost 3000! A short video clip of the Massed Strings ensemble (musicians from beginner to Grade 8 playing together) can be seen on our official BYMT YouTube channel (click on the second link at the end of this report).

BYMT’s mission is to offer these activities to all young people regardless of socio-economic backgrounds and we can only do this with your support. Thank you so much to the BYMT Patrons, Alumni and Families who support us. This year alone we have delivered over 2000 hours of free instrumental/vocal lessons and provided free instruments and access to BYMT ensembles via the BYMT Young Musicians’ Bursary. All donations to BYMT on GlobalGiving go into this Bursary fund.

Finally, thank you to our local community and alumni who have supported us over the past year, with special mention to the Bromley Mayor, Cllr Dr David Jeffreys, who has BYMT as one of the Mayor’s charities this year.
