Wakipa's Updated Success!

By Morgan Domijan | Fundraising Manager

This term has been such a great couple of months for the Wakipa women as they have been quite busy hosting events and creating next steps to grow their business. The group has officially created t-shirts with labels of ‘Wakipa Catering’ on the shirts. Additionally, their own bank account has been established with already over $1,000 in savings, all which has been saved from their own events and hard work! A marketing strategy was put into place as well as marketing flyers strategically hung up and handed out to increase their sales. We are so proud of the Wakipa Women and are excited to see how they continue to grow their business and become mentors to the new Wakipa Young Girls Group.

On top of the amazing success the Wakipa Women have had, the Wakipa Young Girls Group has been established, welcoming in women from ages 18-30 to join this unique mentorship group. Every Monday these young women meet to chat about goals for their group and defining a constitution. There have been 27 young women consecutively attending these meetings – wonderful attendance! They will continue to talk about communication, self-confidence, teamwork, and much more so they can bond as a group. Soon they young women will start to define exactly what they want their income generating project to entail and be mentored by the original Wakipa Women’s Group.

We are so grateful for everyone’s support and have to give a special shout out to Naomi Sequira for hosting endless fundraisers. All of this amazing support has allowed us to achieve the original Wakipa Women’s Group fundraising goal. Soon, we are going to launch an exciting fundraising opportunity to extend support to additional income generating groups as well as a really big exciting announcement for the Moshi Community!

Keep in touch with our African Impact Moshi and African Impact Foundation Facebook group for exciting announcements, an end of the year Gender Equality campaign, and a chance to win a FREE African Impact trip to our Moshi projects.
