Dear Donor,
We are excited to share that we have successfully completed two phases of our intervention in both Jharkhand and Rajasthan, and programming for our third phase is currently underway in both states.
In Jharkhand, we are working in 54 Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas (KGBV schools) this year, where adolescent girls in 9th grade are being trained as Champions to lead health sessions with 8th graders. We have already completed Phase 1 and Phase 2 of our intervention, which focused on Menstruation and Anemia, and Mental Health, respectively. Implementation of our final phase, covering the Gender Equality module, is currently underway in all 54 KGBVs.
In Rajasthan, we are working in 24 low-income government schools in the Bikaner district. In these schools, 9th-grade students are being trained as Champions to lead sessions on Mental Health with 7th and 8th graders. We are also piloting the establishment of Mental Health Clubs in 12 of these 24 schools to enable conversations around mental health even beyond the project period. So far, Phase 1 and Phase 2 of our intervention have been completed, and Phase 3, covering the module on substance use, social media, coping strategies, and mental health resources, is currently underway.
Our interventions in both Jharkhand and Rajasthan are expected to be completed by mid-February.
In addition to our interventions in India, we are also facilitating a global collaboration with HeartSmiles and Johns Hopkins University. We have onboarded youth participants from both Rajasthan, India, and Baltimore, USA, for them to collaborate and co-design a peer-led, culturally contextual mental health curriculum for adolescents in Baltimore.
The core objectives of this collaboration are to promote cross-cultural dialogue, drive youth-led innovation, and combat mental health stigma through awareness. The initiative is actively underway and is set to continue until Spring 2026.
We are deeply grateful for your support, which makes the consistent rollout of these interventions possible, benefitting thousands of adolescents as they transition through this important phase of their lives. We look forward to continuing this journey with you as we grow and expand into newer territories.
With regards,
Team AHC
