Transitioning from shelter life to independence is one of the most significant steps in a survivor’s journey. This quarter, one of our greatest joys was witnessing the successful transition of a survivor who has now joined our team as a staff member. She was offered this opportunity because of her discipline, commitment, and hard work during her time in the shelter. Today, she not only earns an income but also mentors and encourages other women who are on the same journey she once walked. Her presence is a living testimony that healing and empowerment are possible.
Reflecting on her journey, she shared: “When I came to Agatha Amani House, my baby was only three months old. We had nothing, no safe place, no food, no medical care. But here, I found a home. My child received every clinic visit he needed, we had meals every day, and I slowly began to heal. I learned skills, I found my confidence, and now I am employed. To stand here today as part of the AAH team is proof that my past does not define me. I want every woman here to know they too can rise again.”
