It has been a quieter few months for fundraising, with only a handful of donations received. We want to sincerely thank everyone who has contributed — your support truly makes a difference.
We are pleased to report that the solar system installed at the community radio station is performing very well. It has been operating consistently and continuously, allowing the station to broadcast vital news and health information to the surrounding community without interruption.
Unfortunately, the small solar home system installed at the local health centre in 2020 has now reached the end of its expected lifetime. As is normal after around five years, the lead-acid batteries now need replacing. We are currently raising funds to upgrade this system with lithium-ion batteries, which have a much longer lifespan and will provide more reliable power.
Although the health centre can use grid electricity most of the time, solar power remains essential during frequent power cuts — especially at night, when doctors may be called on to assist with emergency deliveries. Reliable backup power can truly be lifesaving.
Thank you again for standing with us and the community we serve.
