Your donation helps children in rural Mexico, in particular in Valle de Bravo, access better learning and safer school environments, as well as better school infraestructure, by supporting local educators who work with schools, families, and communities to create lasting, community-led solutions.
Children and youth in rural communities in Valle de Bravo face barriers to learning, including limited access to electricity, water, internet, learning materials, and safe school infrastructure. Long and unsafe travel to school increases absenteeism and dropout. Girls face gender-based violence and early pregnancy, and many students lack socio-emotional support and pathways to higher education or employment. Low academic outcomes are driven by structural inequality, not lack of ability.
This project addresses these challenges by placing trained Teach For Mexico educators in rural schools to work alongside teachers, families, and community leaders to improve learning environments, strengthen academic and socio-emotional support, and co-create local solutions such as connectivity, safe spaces, and student well-being initiatives. By building local leadership and community capacity, the project creates sustainable improvements that continue long after the program ends.
Over time, this project will strengthen schools, families, and local leadership so children and youth can stay in school, learn in safe and inclusive environments, and access real pathways to higher education and employment. By building community capacity and collective leadership, the project creates lasting, community-led solutions that improve educational and social outcomes for an entire rural region.
