Project Title: Transgender Community Need to be Mainstreamed
Update Title: Milestone Achieved – Transgender Representation in Local Government
Organization: National Disability & Development Forum (NDF) Pakistan
Dear Supporters,
We are pleased to share a significant achievement under our project “Transgender Community Need to be Mainstreamed.”
During this reporting period, our sustained advocacy and awareness efforts contributed to a major policy outcome: 1% of reserved seats are now allocated for the transgender community in local government structures in Pakistan. This is a historic step forward for inclusion, ensuring that transgender persons are formally engaged in decision-making processes through active political participation.
This milestone not only empowers the transgender community to voice their concerns but also helps society recognize them as equal citizens with the right to representation.
Looking Ahead
NDF remains committed to supporting the transgender community at all levels in Pakistan. Our next focus will be on building the leadership capacity of transgender representatives, strengthening their participation in governance, and raising awareness to reduce stigma and discrimination.
