The Tsharka School year continued through December for the third year in a row. The additional months in the classroom are especially important for the more advanced students. It is not possible to complete the full year’s curriculum during summer months alone.
The addition of passive solar structures on the south sides of the classroom buildings makes the classrooms much more comfortable during October, November and December.
The solar additions create a greenhouse effect. Students love to hang out in the warm, bright areas just outside the classrooms.
During the end-of-school celebration in October, students demonstrated traditional dancing outside against the spectacular mountain backdrop.
A train of pack horses passed the school on its way into Tsharka Village.
