We are nearly four years into Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, and the humanitarian needs of communities continue to grow. Constant air strikes on residential areas and frontline battles are putting immense pressure on families and the nonprofits trying to serve them.

GlobalGiving remains dedicated to supporting local organizations and adapting to changing needs—and it is your contributions that make this possible.

Thanks to your donations to the Ukraine Crisis Relief Fund, GlobalGiving recently provided 37 flexible grants to local organizations in Ukraine and others supporting displaced Ukrainians in neighboring countries. The impacts of these grants are truly life-changing.

Oksana, a doctor from a hospital in Lviv, shared how the modern medical and rehabilitation equipment distributed to their facility by our partner, The Social Projects Center of Future, has changed outcomes for patients:

"We had a 45-year-old patient preparing for prosthetic fitting. With the new equipment, we improved his strength and endurance, reduced phantom pain, and saw a clear improvement in his emotional state.”

Here’s a glimpse at the other nonprofits whose work you’ve helped power:

  • Brave to Rebuild is rebuilding and modernizing homes and infrastructure that have been damaged or destroyed due to the war. With GlobalGiving funding in 2025,  the nonprofit repaired several residences, ultimately bringing 15 families back home.
  • Power in UA is providing access to clean water, renewable energy, essential medical aid, and educational resources to communities across Ukraine. With the support of this fund, the nonprofit is installing water filtration systems that ensure access to safe drinking water. These efforts help guarantee the well-being and resilience of people living in frontline and de-occupied areas.
  • UAnimals is one of Ukraine’s leading animal welfare organizations, rescuing and evacuating animals from danger across the country. With support from this fund, their team has been able to vaccinate and sterilize stray animals. Earlier this month, one of their two evacuation vehicles was destroyed in a Russian drone attack—yet even that has not stopped them. Despite constant risk, UAnimals continues its lifesaving work, ensuring vulnerable animals are not forgotten.
  • Masternya Mrii (Dream Workshop)provides supportive housing and day programs for young people with disabilities, helping them build independence and essential life skills. This support is especially urgent for people with disabilities, who often cannot reach shelters during air raids, face disrupted care during evacuations, and lose access to the services they rely on when communities are displaced. Masternya Mrii’s efforts not only offer vital relief to participants but also to their families, who are under significant strain from the war.
  • Zminotvortsi is a leading education organization serving teenagers in war-affected rural areas, where access to schooling has been severely disrupted. The nonprofit offers alternative learning programs that help young people develop their talents and uncover their strengths. With GlobalGiving’s support, the organization launched a Winter Camp for children and a Teacher’s School for educators, all while strengthening its overall capacity to deliver its projects.
  • IPcko works to strengthen mental health access and care for Ukrainian refugees across Slovakia. The organization has expanded access to crisis intervention and community-based services for displaced youth through clubs, individual counseling, animal therapy, and a Ukrainian-language crisis helpline. Through GlobalGiving’s grant, more than 1,200 Ukrainians have received assistance.

We are deeply committed to our partners, who, despite unimaginable challenges, are providing programs that offer hope and care in even the darkest moments.

As Ivan, a local farmer from the Mykolaiv region, shared after returning to his land thanks to the demining work of our partner, the HALO Trust:

“Before the demining, we couldn’t even walk to our fields. Now, I can grow wheat and sunflowers again. It’s not just about income—it’s about hope.”

Your support motivates us all to keep going, and your donation helps communities endure.

We cannot thank you enough.

In solidarity,

Oksana, Kyra + GlobalGiving

About GlobalGiving’s Disaster Response

When a disaster strikes, recovery efforts led by people who live and work in affected communities are often overlooked and underfunded. GlobalGiving is changing this reality. Since 2004, we've been shifting decision-making power to crises-affected communities through trust-based grantmaking and support.

We make it easy, quick, and safe to support people on the ground who understand needs in their communities better than anyone else.

They were there long before the news cameras arrived, and they’ll be there long after the cameras leave. They know how to make their communities more resilient to future disasters, and they’re already hard at work. GlobalGiving puts donations and grants directly into their hands. Because the status quo—which gives the vast majority of funding to a few large organizations—doesn’t make sense.
