The Mission: Why Underwear Matters

Underwear is arguably the most essential yet overlooked item of clothing. For many boys in low-income communities across Africa, owning a simple pair of clean boxers is a luxury. We have observed a heartbreaking reality: many boys own only one or two pairs of worn, torn underwear, which they are forced to wear for multiple days, washing them at night in hopes they dry by morning.

Our project seeks to change this narrative. By providing new boxers at wholesale prices, we aim to:

Boost Self-Esteem: Restoring a sense of personal pride and dignity.
Promote Hygiene: Reducing the risk of infections and skin irritations caused by poor underwear maintenance.
Support Communities: Strengthening the social fabric by caring for our most vulnerable young males.

Quarterly Performance & Current Challenges

This quarter has been particularly challenging. Despite our best efforts and the growing list of boys in need, we were unable to meet our fundraising targets. Consequently, we have not been able to distribute new underwear to the numerous boys currently on our waiting list.

The gap between the need and our current resources remains wide. However, the mission is far from over.

The Road Ahead: NYSC Partnership

To bridge this gap and breathe new life into the initiative, I am dedicating my National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) year to pursuing this project with full vigor. This period of service provides a unique platform to:

Expand Reach: Leveraging the NYSC network to identify the neediest communities.
Increase Advocacy: Raising awareness about underwear hygiene—a topic often shrouded in silence.
Drive Collective Action: Engaging fellow corps members and local stakeholders to support the cause.

A Call to Action

Our long list of beneficiaries is a reminder that the need is urgent. We believe that through collective effort, we can ensure that no boy has to compromise his dignity due to a lack of basic clothing.

Dear Esteemed Donors,

The mission of this project is simple, yet profoundly important: to provide a basic item of clothing that is essential for a boy's dignity, health, and self-esteem. Your past support has been a beacon of hope, allowing us to bring comfort and confidence to boys in need. For that, we are deeply grateful.

It is with a heavy heart that I must report on a challenging quarter. Despite our best efforts, we were unable to secure the necessary funds to move forward with a distribution. The long list of boys waiting for this simple, yet vital, item remains unfulfilled, and the need continues to grow.

This setback has not diminished our resolve; it has intensified it. We are writing to you today with transparency about our struggles and with a renewed and urgent plea for your support. The boys are still waiting, and we cannot help them without you.

The Unchanging Reality: Why This is a Crisis of Dignity

In many discussions about poverty, underwear is the most overlooked, yet most needed, item of all clothing. For countless boys from low-income homes in Africa, the reality is stark:

Many own no more than one or two pairs of underwear, often worn and torn.
They are forced to wear the same pair for several days, washing it overnight in the hopes it will be dry for school the next day.

This is not just an issue of comfort; it's an issue of basic hygiene and self-worth. Our goal is simple: to purchase new boxer shorts at wholesale prices and distribute them to these boys, giving them a boost of confidence and promoting good health.

Q3 Report: A Pause in Our Progress

This past quarter, our primary focus was on fundraising to purchase our next bulk order of underwear. Unfortunately, we were unable to raise the capital required to meet the minimum order.

As a direct consequence, we could not conduct any distributions. The boys on our waiting list, who were hopeful for this support, did not receive the underwear they desperately need. This is a difficult reality to report, and it weighs heavily on our team.

Our Path Forward: An Urgent Appeal to Restore Dignity

The need has not gone away. In fact, our waiting list has only grown longer. Our commitment to these boys is stronger than ever, and our immediate goal is to overcome this funding hurdle and place an order for distribution in the coming quarter.

Your support right now is more critical than ever before. A renewed contribution will be directly allocated to the purchase and distribution of new underwear, allowing us to finally serve the boys who have been waiting patiently. Every single donation moves us closer to restoring dignity, one boy at a time.

This report provides an update on the “Underwear for Needy Boys in Nigeria” project,aimed at providing essential clothing to underprivileged boys in Nigeria. The initiative seeks toaddress the basic needs of young boys by supplying them with underwear, promoting dignity,hygiene, and confidence. This report outlines the project’s progress, current challenges, and urgent needs for the period ending May 2025.

Project Overview
The “Underwear for Needy Boys in Nigeria” project focuses on distributing underwear to boys in underserved communities across Nigeria. By addressing this fundamental need, we aim to improve the quality of life for these children, many of whom lack access to basic clothing due to economic hardship.

Current Status
As of this quarter, we have identified 80 boys urgently requesting underwear. These boys, primarily from low-income families, lack adequate clothing, which impacts their health, self-esteem, and ability to engage fully in school and community activities. Unfortunately, due to insufficient funding, we have been unable to procure or distribute underwear to these boys during this reporting period.

Challenges
The primary challenge faced this quarter is a critical lack of funds. Without adequate financial support, we were unable to purchase the necessary inventory of underwear to meet the needs of the 80 identified boys. This funding shortfall has delayed our ability to provide essential support, leaving these children without this basic necessity. Additionally, logistical costs, including
transportation and distribution, remain a concern as we strive to reach remote communities.

Future Steps
To address the current shortfall, we are actively seeking additional funding from donors and partners. With sufficient resources, we plan to:
• Procure underwear for the 80 boys currently in need.
• Expand outreach to identify additional beneficiaries in other communities.
• Strengthen partnerships with local organizations to streamline distribution efforts.
We aim to resume distributions in the next quarter, provided we secure the necessary funds.

We urgently appeal to our generous donors for support to help us meet the needs of these 80 boys. Your contributions will directly provide underwear, restoring dignity and confidence to these young individuals.
