Aid Container to São Vicente, Cape Verde
1. CONTEXT OF THE EMERGENCY1.1. Description of the Disaster
On August 11, 2025, Tropical Storm Erin hit the islands of São Vicente, Santo Antão, and São Nicolau in Cape Verde, bringing torrential rains that caused devastating floods. In São Vicente, 192.3 mm of rain fell in just five hours, far exceeding the annual average rainfall of 116 mm.

Canned goods, legumes, rice, oil, powdered milk, and baby food
Soap, hand sanitizer, sanitary towels, diapers, baby hygiene products
Waterproof tarps, blankets, sleeping bags, mats
Medical supplies, basic medicines, antiseptics
Clothing for adults, children, and babies, sturdy footwear
Shovels, brooms, buckets, cleaning and disinfecting products
Notebooks, pens, pencils, backpacks to support the return to normal education

The shipment of this container of humanitarian aid to São Vicente, Cape Verde, represents a necessary and supportive response to the devastating situation caused by the floods of August 11, 2025. The emergency has left thousands of people in extremely vulnerable situations, without access to basic services and with their homes destroyed.
This intervention is in line with the principles of international cooperation and solidarity that guide the work of our organization. Through coordination with local authorities and humanitarian organizations on the ground, we will seek to maximize the impact of this aid and contribute to the recovery of the affected communities.
