A devastating fire at Gul Plaza in Karachi claimed lives, injured many, and destroyed livelihoods of hundreds of families. Among the victims were daily wage earners, small shop workers, persons with disabilities, elderly people, and a firefighter who lost his life while saving others. The Gul Plaza fire in Karachi caused a sudden humanitarian crisis for hundreds of families. Lives were lost, many people sustained severe burn injuries, and numerous small businesses were completely destroyed. For many affected households, Gul Plaza was their only source of income. Overnight, families were left without food, shelter, medical care, or financial security. The impact of this tragedy is particularly severe for small business owners.
This project will deliver immediate humanitarian relief and early recovery support to families affected by the Gul Plaza fire. NDF Pakistan will implement a disability-inclusive and community-based response to ensure no one is left behind. The project will provide emergency food and hygiene kits to meet basic needs in the immediate aftermath of the disaster.
