Creating a Culture of Sustainability

Dear Community,

The end of our school year is full of significant milestones for our students. Especially those in Group 6: The Arts, who present their final projects. On April 2, IB1 theater students performed their play, IN-JUST-ICE, created and designed by the students with the guidance of their teacher, and Costa Rican actor and director, Andrés Montero. Theatre is a powerful form of expressive communication that challenges students through practical inquiry, experimentation, creative risk-taking, and presenting their ideas to others. The IB theater course allows students to make theatre as creators, designers, directors, and performers. All while actively engaging in the creative process, transforming ideas into action, and working individually and collaboratively as part of an ensemble.

This is the transformative educational model you support at UWC Costa Rica. Experiential learning that starts in the classrooms and extends into all living spaces across campus and beyond. We are committed to providing an immersive experiential learning across diverse contexts and environments, including he nurturing embrace of nature. We aim to pioneer new educational and cultural paradigms to pursue a sustainable future, develop curricula and initiatives deeply rooted in a culture of sustainability, and pave the way for alternative currents of thought to shape our collective trajectory toward a more harmonious and balanced existence.
