A Morning at U.E. Jenaro Aguirre: Eliannys' Story

By Carmen | Volunteer

English version / Versión en Inglés

The first day of class at Jenaro is my favorite day. After the holidays, I can't wait to run up the stairs and step into my new classroom. My teacher, Ana, greets us with a hug and shows us the walls, which are filled with drawings and messages that make us feel like we can learn anything. It's not just a place with desks; it's my second home. Here, I know I am safe, and I know I can dream. What excites me most is that, from the moment I arrive, everything is ready so I don't have to worry about anything but studying.

During the day, besides our regular lessons, we have time for the choir, where I learn songs, for art, where I can paint my dreams, and for computer class, where they teach us how to use technology. If my throat hurts or I get a scrape while playing, the Jenaro doctor always checks on me and takes care of me with kindness. When it's time for lunch, I run to the school cantine where the tables are already set. My food is always hot, delicious, and full of energy. My mom says that, thanks to this, I am growing up strong and healthy.

This year, I am going to try very hard to learn. My goal is to become a great veterinarian, and here, I feel like I have everything I need to achieve it. When I see the new children arrive, looking a little scared, I tell them: "They will love you very much here, and they will teach you many valuable things that you will always carry with you."

Thanks to Jenaro, I feel that the future waiting for me will be full of opportunities.
