Talking about the Vidas con Sentido program means telling a real story of emotional transformation, creativity, and hope for more than 100 teenagers in the heart of Medellín. Since February 2025, at Corporación Pueblo de los Niños, we set a clear goal: to accompany young people facing extremely difficult situations—violence, abandonment, poverty, anxiety, and deep sadness—and offer them a space where they can learn to feel better about themselves and their surroundings.
Thanks to your support, this vision is becoming a reality.
What’s Working Well?
1. Emotional Awareness and Resilience Are Growing
One of our greatest achievements so far is seeing how teens are learning to name their emotions, understand their anger, frustration, sadness, or insecurity. Through monthly workshops like “Recognizing My Emotions,” “Building My Resilience,” and “Assertive Decision-Making,” they are gaining powerful tools to manage stress, express themselves, and make healthier choices.
2. Karate Is Building Confidence and Self-Control
With 16 workshops completed, karate has become more than just a sport. It’s a space where teens learn to channel anger, respect others, and believe in themselves. Many had never practiced a discipline like this before—and now they feel strong, capable, and proud.
3. Urban Dance Is Giving Them a Voice Through Movement
Every Wednesday, our urban dance workshops become a stage for self-expression. Through movement, teens tell their stories, express their emotions, and show their determination to move forward. With 18 sessions full of energy and belonging, dance has boosted their self-esteem and sense of community.
4. “Las Chicharras”: Art as a Window to the Soul
This creative workshop has been a total success. Through drawing, storytelling, audiovisual media, and collective creation, teens explore their inner world. They’ve produced stories, videos, podcasts, and artistic pieces that reflect how they feel and how they see their reality. With 17 sessions completed, this space has been key to their emotional and communicative development.
5. Personalized Psychosocial Support Is Making a Difference
We don’t just listen—we walk alongside them. By May, we had conducted over 120 individual psychosocial sessions and 64 family interventions. This has helped us identify risks early, activate protection routes, and strengthen family bonds. We’ve also carried out 79 psychosocial assessments to design tailored action plans for each case.
6. “Circles of Care” Are Spaces of Deep Listening and Healing
These focus groups have allowed teens—especially those at higher emotional risk—to talk about self-esteem, body image, love, vulnerability, and relationships. We’ve held 4 circles so far, and the results are deeply moving. These have become safe spaces for reflection, support, and transformation.
7. Families Are Engaged and Committed
So far, we’ve held 5 family workshops on topics like mental health at home, the importance of childhood in emotional development, and how to recognize warning signs. Mothers, in particular, have shown great openness and commitment, recognizing their role as protective figures in their children’s lives.
Thank You for Believing in This Mission
Your generosity is not just funding a program—it’s changing lives. Every workshop, every conversation, every moment of connection is possible because of you. Together, we are building a future where these young people can dream, heal, and thrive.
With heartfelt gratitude,
The team at Corporación Pueblo de los Niños
