Dear Donors, Supporters, and Partners,

We are pleased to present this progress report on the ongoing interventions supporting flood victims—both through the vocational training centre under construction and the surrounding communities we serve. Our goal remains to help affected children, youth, and families recover, rebuild, and regain stability after the devastation caused by the flooding. Your generosity continues to transform lives, restore hope, and create sustainable opportunities for long-term resilience.

1. ICT CENTRE RELOCATION & TRANSFORMATION FOR COMMUNITIES AFFECTED WITH FLOODING

The ICT Centre that was started to help the flooded communities has now been moved from its previous location and the computers have been distributed directly to three primary and junior high schools.

This decision was taken because the original centre was far from the schools, making it difficult for students to walk there.

Now, by bringing the ICT resources into the schools themselves, the impact is immediate and much stronger.

It must be noted that none of these schools previously had an ICT lab, so this intervention has transformed their ability to learn digital skills.

The community clinic has also received a computer to support health service delivery, data entry, and patient documentation.

This new arrangement ensures:

- Increased access to ICT learning

- Reduced walking distance and safety risks for children

- Better integration of ICT into the school curriculum

- Wider community benefit

2. DONOR VISITS & COMMUNITY SUPPORT FOR FLOODED COMMUNITIES

We are grateful to our partners and donors whose generosity continues to strengthen this project.

Recent support includes:

- A donor visit to the community, where footballs were donated to pupils in a flood-affected school, bringing joy and promoting physical activity.

- A donor from the UK who sent books to flooded communities through HOCAP.

The school in Abuvie expressed deep appreciation for these educational materials.

3. Launch of the Catering Department

The centre expanded its scope by launching the Catering Department in October 2025 with 20 new students. A dedicated facilitator has been hired to oversee the programme. The students successfully completed two months of training and are currently on a short break, set to resume in January 2026.

4. Donation of Sewing Machines

The Presbyterian Church of Ghana donated five (5) brand-new sewing machines, bringing the total number of machines to 23. Although we still require additional machines to serve the growing number of trainees, we are extremely grateful for this generous support.

5. Donation of Fabrics for Practical Training

The Presbyterian Church of Ghana also supported the centre with fabrics. These materials have been used for practical lessons, enabling students to sharpen their skills and produce quality items without the burden of purchasing their own materials.

6. COMMUNITY IMPACT

The combined efforts of the vocational centre construction and the relocation of ICT resources are already producing:

- Improved digital literacy among schoolchildren

- Enhanced readiness for vocational training

- Renewed community morale

- Inclusive access to learning tools

- Strengthened community health systems (through the clinic’s computer donation)

5. APPRECIATION

We extend heartfelt gratitude to all partners, donors, and the GlobalGiving community.

Your continuous support allows HOCAP to reach vulnerable groups with practical solutions that uplift, empower, and restore dignity.

Together, we are building resilience and opening doors of opportunity for 500 flood-affected youth and their families.
