Our dearest Friend,
For a child facing cancer, time stands still. Their world shrinks to an endless cycle of doctors, tests, and isolation from the life they once knew. It drains them — physically, mentally, and emotionally.
On World Mental Health Day, we want to remind you that true recovery goes beyond medicine. It's about rediscovering the strength to dream, laugh, and live fully. Thanks to supporters like you, children who've battled cancer get exactly that chance.
Meet Viacheslav, 17 — one of the youngest chefs you'll ever meet.
When his hometown of Bucha fell under occupation, Viacheslav had to start over in the UK. Today, he's studying culinary arts — a passion that began at age 7. This year, he represented his college in the CombiGuru Challenge, coming in second place by just half a point. He also works in a restaurant as the youngest chef on the team.
But his journey wasn't straightforward. At 5, Viacheslav was diagnosed with blood cancer. At 13, after treatment, he joined our "Barrel of Lemonade" communication club — a unique space for teenagers who've overcome cancer.
Why does a club like this matter?
Yulia, the club's co-author, explains: "Instead of making friends, discovering who they are, and living normal teenage lives — they were going through treatment. The club gives them the chance to reclaim everything they lost in a safe space."
Viacheslav spent two years in the club, participating in activities and volunteering with younger groups. He credits it with shaping his compassion and giving him lasting friendships.
Psychological well-being is just as critical as physical treatment for children with cancer. With your help, we can continue programs like "Barrel of Lemonade."
Please, consider donating today. Your support gives children the most precious gift: the belief that they are strong enough to achieve anything.
