Between Wind and Cold: Efforts to Protect Gaza's Families from Winter Storms

By hussam austa | project leader

Dear Donor

As winter approaches in Gaza, displaced families face increasingly harsh living conditions. Heavy rain leaks into fragile tents and temporary shelters, putting children, women, and the elderly at even greater risk. Without proper protection, the cold, moisture, and unsafe shelter conditions threaten their health, safety, and dignity.

In response to these urgent needs, Amal Al-Umma Organization implemented an emergency intervention to distribute rain-resistant tarpaulins to displaced families living in Al-Mukhtar Camp in Gaza. This initiative supported numerous families who lost their homes during the recent escalation and were forced to seek refuge in overcrowded temporary camps.

These tarpaulins provide essential protection by:

  • Preventing rainwater from entering tents.
  • Reducing risks associated with humidity and cold-related illnesses.
  • Improving the safety and stability of temporary shelters.
  • Preserving a basic level of dignity and comfort for families living under extremely difficult conditions.

Your generous support made it possible to reach these families in time, offering immediate protection during severe weather. Your contributions remain a lifeline for displaced families in Gaza, enabling us to respond quickly and effectively when they need it most.

We extend our sincere gratitude for your continued trust and compassion. Together, we can ease the suffering of affected families and bring them renewed hope.
