Project Report | Jan 5, 2026
The Ripple Effect

By Communication Team | Drop of Water

Since our last reporting period, we have focused on finalizing several key projects. We are thrilled to announce that our work in the Amhara region is now fully complete. This project serves more than 4,500 students, teachers, and local villagers. The impact is especially profound for students who were previously tasked with fetching water from long distances, a grueling chore that frequently forced them to miss school. With clean water now accessible on-site, these children can focus fully on their education.

In the Tigray region, we have also successfully completed our operations. While our initial goal was to construct two water points, we managed to build three by leveraging a partnership with a donor and a group of students who fundraised to support the additional site. These three water points are now fully functional, providing life-changing resources to over 1,000 people across three villages.

We have also recently closed out a comprehensive two-year WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene) and Nutrition project in Sidama. Seeing the community’s dedication to maintaining the progress we’ve made in environmental conservation and nutrition is a powerful testament to the project's sustainability.

Currently, there are ongoing projects in Southern Ethiopia and the Sidama region that are nearing the finish line. We are currently making minor adjustments and preparing for the official community handover, which we expect to finalize in the coming weeks.

This quarter also marked a fantastic milestone for our organization which is the official launch of Drop of Water in the USA after receiving our 501(c) (3) status. This expansion is a significant step toward our vision, opening new doors for global collaboration and partnerships which allow us to share experiences with international organizations and adopt cutting-edge, global trends in water and sanitation technology to better serve our communities.

The past year has been a journey of resilience. We navigated various challenges, from the logistical complexities of opening a US office to preparing our 2026 Strategic Direction. Through every "up and down," our commitment to quality service has remained steadfast. It is a privilege and an honor to serve these communities, and we are deeply grateful to the individuals and organizations that actively support our endeavors. We would like to extend a special thank you to GlobalGiving for providing the platform that connects us with our global community.

As we enter the New Year, we look forward to fresh challenges and the opportunity to reach even more people. We believe clean water is a fundamental right, and we remain dedicated to ensuring that access to sanitation and hygiene is a reality for all.
