Water to Empower Female Farmers in Burkina Faso

Thanks to generous supporters like you, we are excited to announce the successful completion of a solar-powered water well  in the village of Ouda. This project, along with the previously completed well in Simbri, has already begun to make a significant impact on the lives of local communities.

Achievements

• Water Well in Ouda: We have built a solar-powered water well in the village of Ouda, which now enables 57 women to grow vegetables even during the dry season. This advancement not only supports their agricultural activities but also improves their livelihoods by ensuring a consistent supply of fresh produce. 

• Water Well in Simbri: The water well in Simbri, serving 40 smallholder female farmers, has also been successfully integrated into the community. This well supports year-round vegetable cultivation and ensures reliable access to clean drinking water for the entire village.

Impact

The implementation of these wells has brought multiple benefits:

• Sustainable Agriculture: Both wells provide a dependable water source for irrigation, enabling women farmers to maintain their crops throughout the year. This stability helps secure food supply and enhances economic stability for their families.
• Clean Drinking Water: The wells offer a reliable source of clean water, significantly improving the overall health and well-being of the communities.
• Empowerment of Women: By focusing on female farmers, the project promotes gender equality and empowers women through enhanced economic opportunities and improved living conditions.

Future Goals

Our vision extends beyond Simbri and Ouda. Over the next five years, we aim to build similar water wells in 18 additional villages. This ambitious goal will require ongoing support and commitment from donors like you.
