Water to Empower Female Farmers in Burkina Faso

Dear Supporters,

Happy New Year! Thanks to your generosity, 2024 was an incredible year for FarmSahel. Together, we made significant progress in improving food security, increasing incomes, and empowering women farmers in Burkina Faso.

As announced in our previous update, the village of Sinikiere will receive a solar-powered water well this March. This well will allow 50 women farmers to grow food year-round instead of relying on just three months of rain. It will also provide clean drinking water for an entire community, improving health and reducing the burden of fetching water from distant sources.

In 2025, we are expanding our work with:

• Planting 500 tangelo trees in Ouda to support sustainable fruit production.
• Growing watermelons in Simbri alongside our usual cowpea, rice, and vegetable production.
• Continuing with our training program in regenerative agriculture

This report includes our first look at the fields in 2025, featuring vibrant cabbage and onion crops. These images reflect the dedication of the women farmers and the impact of your continued support.
