Did you know that when a climate emergency arises, local networks organize to take action? In times of urgency, something is activated: knowledge, connections, solidarity networks, and shared efforts that sustain life. There is organization, there is community.
Those first line defenders are teachers, students, mothers, sisters, farmers, environmental defenders who know the land. They live on it, learn about it, and defend it. Even when the government doesn't show up or is ineffective, and even more so when the fire is out, the water recedes, or the emergency passes. They stay put: they clean, they sow, they rebuild, they help regenerate what the emergency destroyed.
At Fondo de Mujeres del Sur, we seek to strengthen those who care for the land as part of a comprehensive response to climate emergencies. For a decade, we have accompanied organizations in their search for innovative and sustainable solutions that respect the environment and the ways of life of their communities.
Add your donation to strengthen organizations that address socio-environmental crises with justice, care, and collective knowledge.
