Sadhguru School recently had the immense pleasure and honour of welcoming and hosting American singer and dancer, Dizzy Fae and a few other esteemed and wonderful friends of the School.
It was a whirlwind romance between Dizzy and the children and before her departure, they serenaded her with magical offerings at a special Fireside gathering.
On a cool evening in late January, bathed in the warm glow and warmth of the fire, we savoured many unforgettable moments in awe and joy at this serene yet intense circle of friends.
Evocative spoken word offerings, songs to break and mend your heart, rhythmic dance and drums that shook us to our very core, all imbibed with hearty laughter and quiet reflection.
It was a sensual feast. The beauty, profoundness and vibrance within these beings, manifested in various exuberant mediums of expression. The energy and stillness, in perfect balance.
I love these Fireside moments with the tribe because they showcase the pure essence of school in all its glory. The joy, the vibrance and creativity. The blossoming intelligence being nurtured here and the possibilities within us all, students, staff and friends alike!
Among the many gems on offer was one particular poem that stayed with me. Riveting words that spoke to my existential fears and hopes as a seeker. A poem penned by a wise young soul whose fearless and poignant message on life and death is simply and effortlessly conveyed in these beautiful words.
Wisdom is definitely not the exclusive domain of elders!
BEFORE YOU GO
Life is like a breath
Take a look on earth
Days pass away like smoke
Time dashes away like a flashlight
So you might go during the night
Deep down in the dark shell
But do not be afraid my friend
Some die in bitterness of soul
And some die in betterness of soul
They lie alike in dusty hole
And enjoy life no more at all
Before you go, enjoy your life
I feel my heart tremble about it
I hear your stomach rumble about it
Do you hear the thunder roaring about it?
Even my heart is bleeding cause of it!
People of this planet, this is not just if we can do something about it!
So before you go, enjoy your life
In this todays time, death is seen in heights
Standing so tall, ready to fight
With strong muscles and 24 packs!
Calling each, one by one, every time
I am sorry
Death doesn't exist
But dying does exists
So enjoy life before dying looks at you
With its googly eyes
And naked body
Gnashing its tooth at you
Discretion keeps on the path
Of Birth and death
But the path is far, far far, far, far
Departing...no one comes back
The path is full of darkness
It is really far, far...departing
And no one comes back
Some die in vigour
In an unending doze
Down in a pose
Relaxed, to be replanted like a rose
What is life?
Lifetime is as nothing before you
What is life for yet it will end up being useless!
Before you go, enjoy your life.
A Poem by Kamalaika Jolly, Yr 8 student - SGS
