We are all excited that the cold nights are almost over. Thanks to your support our staff and children have survived the cold weather okay. Many children were catching bad colds so we had to spend many hours in hospitals but luckily it was nothing serious as they had warm bedding and clothes.
Both of our homes had heaters (although we couldn't use the gas ones much this winter due to the political crisis and the border blockade), all children got new warm jackets, blankets, warm pijamas and other clothes. We have 18 children at our Birgunj home at the moment and the number of children at the Dhading transit home changes daily as we are rescuing new children and linking them as soon as possible with their families or permanent children's homes. This winter we helped over 35 children in Dhading which is great and they are all loving their winter jackets - they are still wearing them now (despite the hot weather during the day!).
As the spring has come, we are able to grow more vegetables and much quicker so the children are getting loads of vitamins and keeping healthy. Our new baby buffalo in Birgunj is also very happy and was kept very warm all winter so is getting stronger and stronger every day.
And as always - thank you all so much for supporting us. Spring and summer updates coming very soon!
Julia and the whole Our Sansar team
