Women-led Fruit and Vegetable Production Project

Warmest greetings for the New Year and thank you very much for supporting our initiative engaging women in producing high quality seeds for their use in the farm. The availability of seeds is one of the limiting factors in agricultural production and there is a need to produce own high-quality seeds. Seeds from commercial sources are very expensive and cannot be re-grown since they are hybrids and could not produce what is called "true-to-types". We are selecting important vegetables for this initial initiative and we will include more vegetables and fruit trees as we progress. We are keen in participating in international seed production programmes and hoping that we will succeed. For our effort we are engaging women farmers as key implementers in our initiative. Again, thank you very much for supporting us.

Dear Friend,

Warm greetings and thank you very much for your support to our initiative women-led fruit and vegetable seed production. This is important in our area because seeds from commercial companies are very expensive and there is a need for farmers to produce their own so that they will be able to sustain their farming activities and earn income. The budget for seeds and planting materials could then be taken out from their regular expenses as they will be able to use their own. This reporting period we are able to support the seed production of 35 beneficiaries and we hope to increase the number in the coming months. Again thank you very much.
