Join us in bringing clean water this holiday season

By Brittany Harris | Marketing and Development Manager

As we enter the holiday season, we’re filled with gratitude for friends like you who partner with us to deliver clean water to people in need.

Because of your past generosity, families across Malawi now have access to clean water, improved sanitation, and new opportunities for a healthier future. Together, we even reached an incredible milestone—our 600th well.

As you consider your holiday giving, we invite you to make a special Christmas gift to WWFA. It’s a powerful way to continue the impact you’ve already helped create and bring hope to families still in need.

Update from the Field

Your WWFA water-delivering family is not taking the holidays off!

December has been a busy and impactful month in Malawi. Our team conducted water needs assessments at three sites—Machomera Primary School, Mphatso Village, and M’doka Village—confirming that these communities were in critical need of clean water.

Some of the positive work done:

  • Drilling continued this month resulting in successful wells at Foster Village, Machomera Primary School (after a second attempt), and M’doka Village.
  • Our Community Based Management (CBM) training reached five sites across Chikwawa and Blantyre, empowering each village’s water committee to care for their wells and teach safe water practices in their communities.
  • Our partners in the Malawi government, the Health Surveillance Assistants also conducted hygiene training at these sites, giving families practical knowledge to stay healthy and strong.

Thanks to your partnership, December has been full of vital steps toward lasting change—ensuring communities have clean water, knowledge to protect their health, and hope for the future.

Sleep Feels Sweet Again in Mvumba

Before the well, women in Mvumba left home as early as 3:00 a.m., spending more time at the river than with their families. Family relationships frayed under the pressure of long absences and the daily scramble for water. Now, clean water is just steps away, and daily life looks entirely different.

Health has improved, gardens are growing, children are in class—and families finally feel rested, safe, and hopeful again.

Want to hear how this village found sweeter days and sweeter sleep?

With the year coming to a close, I’m reminded of how powerful this family is. Every flowing well, every life uplifted, and every community strengthened reflects the generosity and care of supporters like you. Thank you for standing alongside us and being part of the change happening across Malawi.

As we reflect on this season of gratitude and generosity, we invite you to consider making a year-end gift to help bring clean water, health, and opportunity to even more communities. From all of us at Water Wells for Africa, we celebrate the impact you’ve helped make—and with your continued support this holiday season, we look forward to sharing even more stories of lives transformed in the year ahead.

Warm holiday wishes,

Brittany
