World Conservation Day - July 28

By Martine Jean-Baptiste | Founder, Executive Director

World Conservation Day is observed each year on July 28 to emphasize the importance of protecting our environment and natural resources for a healthier future. As global challenges like climate change and food insecurity grow, the need for sustainable solutions is more urgent than ever.

In the early 2000s, the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) introduced “nature-based solutions” to help address environmental threats while also tackling issues like poverty, water scarcity, and food insecurity.

In Haiti, where 22% of children are chronically malnourished, our Midwifery-led Youth Groups are making an impact. This year, we educated over 150 youth on sexual health, consent, and gender equality—while also helping them fight food insecurity. After attending the year-long program each participant will receive five fruit and vegetable trees, providing long-term access to nutrition and income, while supporting environmental restoration.

Midwives are uniquely positioned to deliver trusted, culturally relevant education and to inspire the next generation of climate-conscious youth leaders.

Help us grow change—donate today and share our mission! Every tree, every lesson, every voice makes a difference.
