Hey everyone, Ty here!
I wanted to take a minute to pull back the curtain on something we see a lot out here. About 15 years ago, there was a big initiative funded by UKAid that brought volunteers over to build medical centers across parts of Africa. It sounds great on paper, right? But the local communities were never consulted. They weren't given the tools, the skills, or the resources to actually keep them running.
Fast forward to today, and these buildings are still standing, but they’re ghosts of what they could be. Many are run by small, dedicated local NGOs, but they’re operating in the dark—literally. No electricity means no lights after sunset, and more importantly, no fridges to store life-saving medicine. The maternity wards are just bare bones; women have to bring their own blankets and towels just to give birth.
It’s time to change that.
The Mission: Getting back to basics We are on a mission to get these clinics back to being actual, functioning medical centers.
Here is our game plan:
Power Up: We’re installing solar power so these clinics can finally have lights at night and, crucially, fridges to store essential vaccines and medication.
The "Lick of Paint" & Prep: We’re securing the buildings and giving them the upgrade they need to be safe, clean, and welcoming.
Critical Services: We are pumping resources into family planning and maternity care. These services are needed right now, and they shouldn't be a luxury.
Stage 2: Sustainability We aren't here to do the work and vanish. Once these clinics are humming, we move to Stage 2: working hand-in-hand with the local community to build a financially sustainable model so these clinics stay open and thriving long after we’ve packed up our tools.
A massive win! Thanks to you, we have officially finished upgrading our first clinic! It’s a huge milestone, and the timing couldn't be better. We are ready to tackle the next one, and we need your help to keep this momentum rolling.
Little by Little: The Power Play! From March 17th – 20th, GlobalGiving is running their Little by Little campaign, and it is the perfect way to help us fund the next solar setup. They are 50% matching all donations up to $50, while matching funds remain.
A $50 donation from you becomes $75 for us.
That extra $25 is the difference between a dark room and a lit clinic, or an empty fridge and one stocked with life-saving medicine.
These matching funds disappear super fast, so please save the date and jump in on the 17th. Let’s bring these clinics back to life together!
Stay awesome,
