The past few months we were able to create two amazing courses for our older friends in Taiwan to better integrate them into society. This included a workshop from our year end series that focuses on empowering our communities to give back to others - this year via animal welfare and painting class - and also bringing our friends up to date on Artificial Intelligence (AI) and the changing world around them.
We wrapped up our year end series with a workshop on Valentine's Day, appropriating promoting love and compassion. Bright Side Projects was eager to undertake this momentous task of aiding our friends be a part of activism via our The “Advocacy Through Art” series, the first of its kind in Taiwan that promotes activism, art, animal awareness, and positive environmental impact. This year we worked with rodent rescues, senior dogs and also also a group assisting dogs with disabilities, cats, snakes, and for our older friends, we paired with a group of friends involved with rabbit rescues. The artworks created will be sold with proceeds benefiting the charities.
An AI workshop was also created to better integrate our older friends into the modern world and current news - something that cannot be avoided with Taiwan being a part of the global movement in providing chips TSMC and NVIDIA both stationed here. They often hear about the terminology on different media outlets or through others talking about it but had little to no idea what it was, how it affected them, or how it would impact the future. We painstakingly created a mini workshop that explained the current trend of technology and the role in our lives and how AI would continue to evolve. In providing real life usage, ChatGTP assisted us in providing us with a recipe so we could create an afternoon snack with what was in their fridge at the community center and then using pictures they brought, wove fictional stories of their lives. They eagerly gave it directions to see what new ideas and storylines it would come up with.
We hope for more support for our older friends as they are our past, present, and all of our futures. They can be a part of activism to make the world a more compassionate place - they should be included in the dialogue on technology and the future. Thank you and stay tuned!
